Ellen “Molly” Burns is an associate attorney at Michigan Law Center, P.L.L.C. located in Macomb, Michigan. Her focus is on planning for persons with disabilities, regardless of age.
Molly is a member of the Academy of Special Needs Planners (ASNP) and the National Association of Attorneys with Disabilities (NAAD). She is also a member of the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section as well as the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan.
Molly is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania (2008) and Michigan (2012). She possesses state and federal judicial clerkship experience. She has also served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and has successfully argued significant cases before the Michigan Court of Appeals. Molly’s private practice has focused on probate and estate planning.
Molly joins Michigan Law Center with a unique perspective regarding special needs and disability planning. Molly has two severe digestive illnesses which prevent her body from being able to properly digest food. As a result, she requires continuous specialized nutrition through a feeding tube. The feeding tube provides her only source of nutrition and constitutes a life-sustaining medical device. Molly’s experience with her disability fuels her passion for special needs issues and enables her to empathize with her clients and their caregivers. In addition, Molly combines her love of animals and passion to support individuals with special needs by volunteering with the Banbury Cross Therapeutic Equestrian Center located in Oxford, Michigan.
Molly earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, Indiana in 2005, majoring in economics and philosophy. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law in 2008.
